Thanissaro Bhikkhu
Published • Revised

Western Buddhists have traditionally understood the Buddha’s metaphor of nibbana (Sanskrit: nirvana) as “extinguishing” or “extinction”. This book, which includes an essay and readings from the Pali Canon, examines the ancient Indian understanding of the physical workings of fire in order to understand the Buddha’s metaphor of nibbana in its original context.

- The EPUB format is suitable for most e-readers, except Kobos and Kindles. This includes most e-reader applications on mobile phones and tablets (e.g. Apple's iBooks, various apps for Android), and on desktops (e.g. Calibre).
- Kindle owners will generally want the AZW3 format. Unfortunately, AZW3s cannot be sent with Amazon's Send to Kindle service and need to be sideloaded via USB. Some have tried using Send to Kindle to send EPUBs, but with mixed success.
- Kobo owners will want kobo's “KEPUB” format, which is a version of the EPUB format optimized for Kobo e-readers.
