We are based in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, a location we have found highly conducive to serious practice.
We have no formal group meetings at present, but we do get together with other Dhamma practitioners in Saskatoon every few weeks for discussion of Dhamma readings, including books and essays by Thanissaro Bhikkhu, Suttas and excerpts thereof. The group includes people at a variety of levels of exposure to the Kammatthana tradition. We also maintain a library of books. Some of these books (for which we have many copies) are available for free pickup. Other books may be borrowed but should eventually be returned. Please write to us at the address below if you are interested in seeing a list of the books in the library.
During some years, we also host members of the Wat Metta Sangha (frequently including Thanissaro Bhikkhu) for stays on privately owned forested land approximately 1 hour north of Saskatoon. These occasions generally involve daily Dhamma talks and meditation sessions. Visitors are welcome to join us, but should be aware that these visits are held in very simple conditions (with minimal facilities or amenities) and are focused on providing an environment conducive to practice and meditation.
We anticipate that Thanissaro Bhikkhu's next visit will be in early 2011 (likely in February). Please contact us at the email address below for information on other activities taking place during this visit.
Thanissaro Bhikkhu's most recent visit was in June, 2010. This visit included a public retreat whose recorded sessions and related resources are available online.
If you are interested in joining the study group, or in being notified of Dhamma talks, retreats or other events by Thanissaro Bhikkhu or other Kammatthana monks in the Saskatoon area, please send your email address to
