Thanisarro Bhikkhu Saskatchewan Retreat 2010 on "The Ten Perfections"

Introduction: The paramis--"perfections" or "qualities of foremost importance"--are a list of qualities of heart and mind needed for Awakening. They also form an excellent framework for understanding how to incorporate Dharma practice into daily life. There are ten qualities in the list: generosity, virtue, renunciation, discernment, persistence, endurance, truth, determination, good will, and equanimity. This weekend course--through talks, readings, discussion, and meditation--will explore ways in which these qualities can be fostered and applied to everyday decisions so as to bring meaning and purpose to the direction of our lives.

Audio for the retreat is available is available here.

Time 7-9pm Friday, June 25 (A separate session that will help provide an overview of the topic. No registration is required for attendance. There will be a brief meditation at the beginning of the talk.)

9am-4pm Saturday-Sunday, June 26-27. (These days will include meditation sittings dispersed between dhamma talks and discussions. There will be a break from 11am-12:30pm, during which participants can eat their own lunch and do walking meditation.)

If you are hoping to attend, please write to the organizers (email address below) to confirm availility of and reserve space. With some capacity still remaining, we are now accepting requests from those even if they cannot make the entirety of the retreat.
Reading Material Discussions centered around a set of readings from the Pali Canon and modern masters in the Thai Forest Tradition. To lessen the risk of needless duplication of printed materials for the course, attendees are requested to bring printed copies of these readings to the retreat.

Those particularly interested in the readings and interested in supplemental material in the same theme may also wish to refer to the Ten Perfections Study Guide, which contains a broader set of readings on the same topic (but which is too long to cover in its entirety during the retreat).

Logistics Participants are responsible for bringing any items they may require during the retreat, such as their own lunches or a meditation cushion. This is a non-residential retreat, and no lodging or meals are provided.
